Pagan and Wiccan Music

Music has a place in ritual and in our lives. The rhythm moves us, the sounds uplift us, and the comination stirs our souls. It can create a different ambiance for a ritual, or help soothe your nerves so you can meditate. Or you can also just listen to it in your car or on a walk for a little magickal touch during mundane activities!

This was a list posted to me by MorningDove on the College Wicca Forum. These are her words and descriptions on each link. I'm frankly not an expert when it comes to knowing Pagan music...I have Godsmack CD's, and From The Goddess/O Great Spirit by Robert Gass and On Wings of Song, and my usual meditation music (if any) is usually Neptune: The Mystic by Holst. Otherwise, this page never would have been made without her suggestions.

I appreciate Dove and her expertise on the subject...and will also be looking into these groups!

Pagan and Wiccan Music Suggestion:

Ancient Mother by OnWings of Song Robert Gass This collection of Goddess chants from around the world is inspiring. The CD includes Hindu, Hawaiian, and African Chants. All chants are translated in the album cover, which is a nice touch!

Pagan and Wiccan Music Links:

http://www.emeraldrose.com/ - If you like Celtic music that is in English so you can actualy understand it for a change, here ya go. Most of the songs are Pagan in orgin. Definatly check out the song "Pagan Girl".

http://www.goddesschant.com/ - A great chanting CD by Shawna Carol that includes beautiful voices, and great instruments. It's "New Age-y" but with words.

http://www.kivasong.com/ - KIVA Music for the Spirit is a diverse group of musicians. No two songs are alike! They do short chants, druming, and full songs as well. My favorite is "Maria" which is about the mother of Jesus as a Pagan's "Childhood Goddess".

http://www.sevensouth.com/recordshop/MovingBr/bio.php - The group is called Moving Breath and their first CD, She Chainges is full of moving Goddess chants that are just beautiful. Many of the chants are traditional well known chants, but performed in new ways. If you want to learn some chants for your own rituals, this is the CD. Lots of drumming and definatly a hit of Native American sounds.

http://www.musicforthegoddess.com/ - This group is the most modern sounding of this list. It's definatly pop sounding, but incorporates some familer tranditional chant as well.
